Iconic Ensembles From Women Who Rock

A selection of five outfits from our upcoming Music Icons auction on February 27th, 2024.

An ensemble stage-worn by Katy Perry during a FIFA performance on December 15, 2019. The ensemble includes a black and hot pink sequined stripe jumpsuit with a corseted interior bodice, structured bra cups, and zippers at the bottom of each pant leg; a wide black sequined belt; and a pair of two hot pink feather sleevelets with black patent leather arm bands.

A custom silk coral mini dress with bands encrusted with chunky iridescent glass as worn by Ashanti while performing “Rain On Me” during the 31st Annual American Music Awards in 2003 in Los Angeles.

The mini dress has a deep plunging neckline and front slits. Label or size are not present. A fabric tag inscribed “Celebrity 92” is affixed to the interior.

Accompanied by a pair of chunky iridescent-glass-encrusted cuffs that connect with the chiffon stole.

A burgundy and pale pink houndstooth skirt suit worn by Madonna as "Eva Peron" in Evita (Cinergi Pictures, 1996).

The suit comprises a swing coat with deep burgundy satin lining and a slender-fitting skirt with a decorative buckle. Both pieces have Palace Costumes labels. Costume design by Penny Rose.

Accompanied a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Melody Barnett, President of Palace Costume and Prop Company.

A plaid and paisley print on golden ground jacket worn by Whitney Houston circa 1992.

The jacket has a Gianni Versace "Versus " label, size 28/42. Together with a pair of matching velvet trousers with a Gianni Versace "Versus" label, size 28/42. Handwritten notes are present to the labels in both the jacket and the trousers. The consignor acquired the ensemble through Houston’s management.

A blue coat dress worn by Lady Gaga while performing "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" onstage with Elton John during an outdoor concert in the parking lot of Tower Records in West Hollywood, California, on February 27, 2016. Together with a framed sketch of Lady Gaga wearing the coat dress signed by designer Ronald van der Kemp with handwritten styling notes.

The dress wraps across and zips at the left shoulder, and contains decorative buttons down the left side and a black epaulet on the left shoulder, with a chain dangling off the zip. Label reads "RVDK," and a separate "RVDK Amsterdam" label has handwritten "Artist Proof Ronald van der Kemp" by the designer.

Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity signed by van der Kemp stating that the dress was designed and crafted by hand in Amsterdam using repurposed fabrics and trims for Lady Gaga to wear in her performance with John.
