Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premier sports and entertainment auction house, announces Sports Legends 2015, an unprecedented collection of sports memorabilia offered for an Internet exclusive auction ending at 5:00 p.m. PST on Monday, November 9, 2015.

 

This historic collection of items to be auctioned includes game worn items from the New York Yankees.These items include Thurman Munson’s 1971 game worn Yankees home flannel jersey, Derek Jeter’s 2013 game worn home Yankees jersey, and Mariano Rivera’s 1996 game worn home Yankees jersey. Property from other Yankees legends is widely featured in the auction as well, including items from Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris among many others.

 

For our basketball fans, Julien’s will have the rare opportunity to offer the full backboard from the Los Angeles Forum, game used by the Los Angeles Lakers of the “Showtime” era, with the glass backboard itself signed by Lakers legends and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Inductees. Julien’s will also be offering LeBron James’s St. Vincent and St. Mary’s High School game worn basketball uniform, as well as Michael Jordan’s 1986-87 Chicago Bulls game worn home jersey, and Jordan’s 1997-98 Bulls full road uniform.

 

Julien’s will also be honored to offer a unique item from Olympic history — a torch used in the 1936 Summer Olympics torch relay. The 1936 Summer Olympics torch relay was the first of its kind, following the reintroduction of the Olympic flame at the 1928 Games. It pioneered the modern convention of moving the flame via a relay system from Greece to the Olympic venue. While there were many torches produced at the time for the 1936 relay, many were eventually melted down to be used for supplies for World War II. This torch was used by a torchbearer in the relay who hailed from the Greek town of Larissa in central Greece.

 

Julien’s is also honored to be offering Pele’s Brazil National Football Team game worn soccer jersey. The 1970 Brazil National Football Team would win the country’s third FIFA World Cup title in 1970, with the team being recognized as one of the greatest teams in World Cup History. Pele has also been recognized as the greatest soccer player in the history of the sport. In addition to Pele, Julien’s will also offer game worn jerseys from soccer legends Zico, Socrates, Ronaldo, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

 

Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Boxing, Soccer and Racing memorabilia will also be featured in the Sports Legends 2015 auction, with offerings from iconic and legendary athletes including but not exclusive to Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky, Peyton Manning and Wilt Chamberlain.
