Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premier sports and entertainment auction house, announces its Sports 2016 Online Only Auction, an unprecedented collection of sports memorabilia offered for an internet exclusive auction ending at 5:00 p.m. PST on Sunday, December 18, 2016.
This historic collection of items to be auctioned includes property from the world’s greatest athletes. Headlining the sale are two incredible championship rings, one from the 2012 NBA Champion Miami Heat, and the second from the 1973 NFL Champion Miami Dolphins.
Julien’s is also honored to be offering Pelé’s 1971 Santos FC game worn and signed soccer jersey. The jersey was worn by Pelé in an international friendly match versus Chelsea FC in 1971. Adding to the rarity of this jersey are the three stars displayed above the Santos logo of the jersey. Two of the gold stars represent Santos FC's victories in the 1962 and 1963 Intercontinental Cup. A rare third star has been added to this jersey, as was added to Santos FC jerseys in late 1969, to commemorate Santos' victory in the Super Cup of Intercontinental Champions in July 1968. Santos jerseys with three stars were used in games from late 1969 to mid-1972, and they were only used when Santos played international teams, not other Brazilian club teams. Many other soccer stars are represented in the auction including Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar to name a select few.
Julien’s will be offering the fire suit of one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 racing history — Michael Schumacher. Before Schumacher’s heyday with Ferrari, he raced for Benetton. Offered in the sale is one of Schumacher’s Benetton-era race worn suits which rarely find their way into the marketplace.
Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Boxing, Soccer, Tennis and Racing memorabilia will also be featured in the Icons & Idols 2016: Sports Auction, with offerings from iconic and legendary athletes including Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Mickey Mantle, and Mike Tyson.
