Julien’s Auctions announces its highly anticipated biannual Street, Contemporary & Celebrity auction, to be held live at our galleries and online at www.julienslive.com on October 19, 2017.
This curated sale of 156 lots features the diverse talents of street artists, contemporary favorites and celebrities showcasing the multitude of styles, mediums and techniques.
The sale is anchored by a section of Banksy items that includes; Drill Rat Traffic Sign, Circa 2003 (estimate: $70,000 – 90,000), Uncut sheet of Di Faced Tenners, 2004 (estimate: $30,000 – 35,000), Gold Flag screen print (estimate: $15,000 – 25,000) and Turf War, 2003 protest placard (estimate $2,500 – 3,500). There is also a selection of Shepard Fairy works, Mr. Brainwash, Takashi Murakami, along with a variety of other Street Artists. Other highlights include: Alec Monopoly customized stainless Milgauss oyster perpetual Rolex watch (estimate: $25,000 – 35,000), Dot Dot Dot Vandal King suite (estimate: $3,000 – 5,000) and Pure Evil Screaming Marilyn (estimate: $1,200 – 1,500).
Contemporary Artist highlights include: Alex Katz, Ada circa 1979 (estimate: $10,000 – 15,000), Andy Warhol, Michael Jackson screen print with Warhol Foundation stamp (estimate: $100,000 – 150,000), Keith Haring customized New York City Christopher Street Subway sign (estimate: $10,000 – 15,000), Jean Michel Basquiat, portrait, marker on paper (estimate: $40,000 – 60,000) and photographer Timothy White, Elizabeth Taylor mural print (estimate: $35,000 – 45,000).
Celebrity artists highlights include: Donald J. Trump drawing of the Empire State building (estimate: $8,000 – 12,000), Tony Curtis piece from 1987 (estimate: $4,000 – 6,000) and a selection of Phyllis Diller paintings coming directly from the artists estate ( each esteem: $1,000 – 2,000).
