JULIEN’S AUCTIONS IS PROUD TO PRESENT "ICONS & IDOLS: HOLLYWOOD", AN AUCTION TAKING PLACE LIVE ONLINE AT JULIEN'S LIVE ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3RD.
Our "Icons & Idols Trilogy continues with "Icons & Idols: Hollywood", the world record-breaking auction house to the stars’ film and television pop culture event taking place Thursday, December 3rd, online at www.JuliensLive.com.
The event will include nearly 600 important artifacts taken out of the vault and production archives of Hollywood's greatest films from the Golden Age of Hollywood to today's modern and new box office classics as well as pieces rarely seen or coming to the auction block for the first time, celebrating the famous and influential from film, television, stage and more.
The marquee highlight of the event is one of cinema’s most recognizable characters and 20th century pop culture icon, 007 agent James Band, played by the film franchise’s legendary actor, Sir Sean Connery. This Walther PP handgun was used by Connery as James Bond, 007, in the very first Bond film to come to screen, Dr. No (EON Productions, 1962).
In the cinematic debut of the character of James Bond, Connery uses this hero weapon throughout the film and helped to establish and define the character that has been featured in books, films, and other media for the past nearly six decades.
The silhouette of the Walther PP and PPK has served as the key iconic image for the character of James Bond since the film franchise debuted with Dr. No, and this deactivated handgun was the first of all that followed. One of two employed in the film, this prop was identified by the original film armorer, BAPTY in the UK, who had it until the official BAPTY Archive auction in 2006. I
Other top highlights of the auction include: one of several production made fighter pilot helmets created for use in filming by Tom Cruise in his iconic role as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in Tony Scott's Top Gun; an original foam latex animatronic Leonardo ninja turtle head from the 1993 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III; a black eye patch worn by “the Duke” John Wayne in his Academy Award-winning role as Rooster Cogburn in 1969 film classic, True Grit; props and costumes from popular genre films such as Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Pulp Fiction, and the Back to the Future film franchise; plus, items from Marilyn Monrore, Greta Garbo, Elizabeth Taylor, Hugh Hefner, Bette Davis, Gone with The Wind, The Nutty Professor and more.
The Collection of Randi Rahm, an auction exclusive featuring the designs of the internationally renowned fine couture fashion artist who has dressed Hollywood icons and some of the world’s most influential people for over three decades, will be presented on both the Icons & Idols Trilogy: Rock and Roll taking place on December 2nd and Hollywood sale on December 3rd. Highlights include dresses and costumes worn by Vivica A. Fox, Halle Berry, Lindsay Lohan, Joan Rivers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Holly Hunter, Eva Longoria, Sally Field, Jane Fonda, Heather Graham, Edie Falco, and more.
