Taking place on May 18th, 2019, live at the Hard Rock Café in New York. The auction will include stage worn clothing, jewelry, stage props, equipment, ephemera and more representing Lake’s illustrious career spanning his days as the vocalist and bassist of King Crimson, into the various incarnations of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, his extensive solo career, and pieces related to his time with Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band and Asia.
Highlights from the auctions include: The fabled Persian rug (estimate $8,000-$10,000) that Lake acquired in the early 1970s to play atop on stage, which quickly became an iconic staple of the Emerson, Lake & Palmer stage set; a 1901 U.S. gold Liberty head double eagle $20 coin necklace (estimate $1,000-$2,000) worn by Lake throughout his career which can be seen in many pictures taken during the late 1960s and early 1970s of King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer; a black ruffled shirt (estimate $500-$700) and blue Cecil Gee shirt (estimate $200-$400), both worn often during Lake’s early career; a stunning white and gold leather suit (estimate $2,000-$4,000) custom made by Maxfield Parrish which was worn on stage extensively during early Emerson, Lake & Palmer performances; a handwritten sheet containing an early version of lyrics from Emerson, Lake & Palmer's iconic album Brain Salad Surgery; Greg Lake’s personal wardrobe case (estimate $500-$700); a Gretsch G6120 guitar played on Lake’s Songs of a Lifetime Tour ($2,000-$3,000) and many more.
