Event Details

Julien’s Auctions is proud to offer the following 45 lots of spectacular Marilyn Monroe images spanning the star’s life starting in 1945 when she was a struggling model to 1962 when she was a world-famous Hollywood actress.

The collection comprises mostly photographs, though there are also a few colorful limited edition prints and even a piece of ceramic tile from the star’s last home in Brentwood, California.  The photographs are either black and white or color and were all professionally printed in the 1970s to the 1990s either by the photographers themselves or by prestigious art galleries.  Some of these images of Marilyn are rare and not often seen while others are quite iconic and well-known.  They were shot by celebrated photographers including  William Carroll, Milton Greene, László Willinger, Bert Stern, and George Barris and looking at them chronologically (as they are being offered here in this special online auction), they illuminate the stellar yet short-lived trajectory of this young woman’s career that we are still consumed with today, 56 years after her untimely death in 1962.
