Event Details
Join Julien’s in New York City on November 9 and 10 for a two–day music extravaganza event, live at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City and online at www.julienslive.com
The all–star lineup will feature hundreds of historical items of music giants Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, George Michael and The Beatles, joining the previously announced sessions of The Personal Property of Bernie Taupin and a collection of stage pieces worn by soul queen Aretha Franklin.
Highlights of this unprecedented two–day auction will include: items from music legend Prince featuring a white Collings 290 guitar played in his final stage performance at a Ray Charles tribute concert on March 12, 2016; a custom–made motorcycle jacket worn by the actor/musician in his 1984 smash film debut Purple Rain, glittery shirts, tunics, vests and more. Two of the most iconic 1980s pieces representing the "decade of Madonna" are offered featuring a custom–made jacquard cropped tuxedo jacket worn by Madonna and her co–star Rosanna Arquette in the 1985 cult classic Desperately Seeking Susan along with the black hat case used by Susan as luggage and miscellaneous film props including a pair of rhinestone drop earrings.
The auction will also feature items from guitar legend Jimi Hendrix including a group of ¾ inch magnetic tape recordings of tracks from 1968’s Electric Ladyland including a live studio jam version of "Voodoo Child" with Steve Winwood on organ and Jack Casady on bass with Hendrix’s own handwritten notations; vintage Hendrix concert posters, Woodstock memorabilia, photographs, a drum case and more. In keeping with 1960s icons, Bob Dylan’s black motorcycle jacket worn on the cover of the 1984 Real Live album will be offered, along with jewelry and ephemera from Elvis Presley including a 14karat gold TCB "Taking Care of Business" chain necklace and a gold diamond ring worn by Presley during his 1969 engagement in Las Vegas.
No music auction would be complete without The Beatles, and items offered in this event include a group of four White Album’s, each signed by a band member and one including the signature of Yoko Ono.
The King of Pop will be represented with Michael Jackson’s never–before–seen original drawings from the Collection of Dr. Steven M. Hoefflin, Jackson’s close friend and art collaborator. The series of over 30 illustrations in marker and pencil, drawn and signed by Jackson in the ‘80s features intimate self–portraits of Jackson as a child and young man, tracing of his sequined glove and ungloved hand, portraits of his sisters Janet, Rebbie and Latoya and more.
Other highlights of the two–day auction include: a black Washburn Paul Stanley signature guitar used by Stanley on stage during the KISS Farewell Tour in 2000; David Bowie’s orange boiler suit worn in the 1984 promotional video "Jazzin’ for Blue Jean"; a navy blue police shirt worn on stage by George Michael and the black western–style boots worn on his 1988 tour as well as in the "Faith" music video; a black Eric Clapton "Blackie" signature Fender Stratocaster signed by Clapton and B.B. King and memorabilia from Britney Spears, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Whitney Houston, Johnny Cash, Frank Zappa, Cher, Lady Gaga, Kurt Cobain, The Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Carlos Santana, Neil Young, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lou Reed, Alicia Keys and more.
