Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premier entertainment and high profile art auction house, has announced its Fine and Decorative Arts auction featuring property from the collection of Barbara Lazaroff, distinguished Los Angeles A.S.I.D. designer and co-founder of Spago and numerous other fine dining establishments.

The auction will take place Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills gallery located at 9665 Wilshire Boulevard beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pacific time.

The event will include unique items curated by Lazaroff and originally showcased as décor at her various restaurants including Eureka, Chinois, ObaChine, Granita, a variety of Wolfgang Puck Cafes, and Spago, Beverly Hills, considered by Zagat to be the most iconic restaurant in Los Angeles. There will also be items from Barbara Lazaroff’s personal art collection.

Highlighting the sale will be a number of modern art masterpieces, including a stunning gelatin silver print of “Sie Kommen” (naked) (Est. $20,000-$40,000) signed and dated by Helmut Newton. This unusually large print was purchased by Lazaroff directly from the artist and was showcased in Barbara’s redesigned layout of The Playboy Club in Tokyo, Japan. Also up for bid will be a rare printers proof by Jim Dine, “The Oil of Gladness” (Est. $10,000-$15,000), and a monumental mixed-media print with decoupage accents by American great James Rosenquist, “Time Door” (Est. $15,000-$20,000). The event will also feature sought after works by world renowned artists Helen Frankenthaler, Jim Lutes, Dale Chihuly, Robert Motherwell, Andy Warhol and more.

Also on offer will be an assortment of antique beer and liquor posters, a collection of colorful and whimsically detailed ceramic vases custom designed by artist Mary Burns exclusively for Barbara Lazaroff and Wolfgang Puck’s cafes and her home. There are also a number of carved Buddhist sculptures and historic Thai narrative paintings, in addition to other select items of Asian art and antiques procured by Lazaroff during her many trips to Asia. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of certain items will be generously donated to the St. Vincent Meals on Wheels program.
