An Aztec coin prop from the production of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, 2003), directed by Gore Verbinski. 

The gold-tone coin is made from cast metal and plated with a gold-tone finish. One side features a skull and Aztec calendar design; the reverse side features two pictographs. There is a small loop at the top of the coin where a necklace could be threaded. The coin is in very good condition showing minimal production wear.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was adapted from the Disneyland attraction which first opened in 1967—the last attraction to have personally been overseen by Walt Disney, who died three months before it opened. Starring Johnny Depp (Captain Jack Sparrow), Geoffrey Rush (Captain Barbossa), Orlando Bloom (Will Turner), Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Swann), Zoe Saldaña (Anamaria), and Jonathan Pryce (Governor Weatherby Swann), the film was number four at the worldwide box office in 2003, and was followed by four sequels, which combined with the original have grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide.
