A screen-matched “Grouch News” sign that hung off the side of Oscar the Grouch's trash can on the long-running children's educational series Sesame Street (Sesame Workshop, 1969 - Present). 

The hand-painted sign is comprised of original production paperboard and features screen-matched elements of paint patterns, typography, edge wear, and mounting holes to various segments of “Grouch News,” which Oscar hosted on the show circa 1986 - 1988. 

The sign comes mounted and framed.

The item was originally acquired at a WQED Benefit Auction in Pittsburgh, PA in the late 1980s by a pair of volunteer telethon phone workers.
