| Streisand On A Clear Day Beaton Gown |

 |
|
On A Clear Day You Can See Forever Period Gown by Cecil Beaton, Paramount 1970 Crème crepe silk full length long
sleeve empire style gown, sleeves in lighter shade, fully lined in synthetic blend and heavily adorned with tiny
faux pearls, rhinestones and decorative silver embroidery with iridescent floral motif. Additional floral beaded

snap and hook and eye closure at back. Label reads, Paramount." The costume was worn in one of the films flashback
sequences in which the orphan Melinda Tentrees has become an elegant lady. Barbra was beautifully photographed in
this dress by famed designer, Cecil Beaton. He said "Barbra is one of two kinds of superstars. The two types
are: the coolly detached and the fanatically involved. Barbra was the latter. She obviously thought everything out;
I've never to this day, met anyone so young who had such an awareness and knowledge of herself. Of any actress I
have ever worked with, I believe she had the widest range as a performer. Barbra did an English accent to perfection;
perhaps in an earlier life she was a landed lady with titles and royal lovers. She is an ideal mannequin and a compelling
actress in elegant period costumes. Her face is a painting from several historical eras. Barbra as an English woman,
an Egyptian, or a Ming empress would be unforgettable." Regarding this costume, Beaton commented, ".she
was totally feminine, beguiling, shamelessly sexual. In my designs, her look was soft, almost maternal, but very
beautiful, as in a Raphael painting. I tried to stress the lushness of the fabrics, the intricate designs and motifs,
in short, the physical if not spiritual splendor of the period we were dealing with." Minor beading losses
throughout, minor spotting and staining throughout, discoloration to garment interior, moderate fraying at sleeves,
overall good condition."
