Orson Welles Document Archive

This lot features a large collection of original letters, correspondence, writing projects, documents and related items to Orson Welles' personal and professional career c.1955 - 1957. Included are over one dozen folders of material that include; a hand typed signed letter from Desi Arnaz to Welles, related material and correspondence regarding the Orson Welles special "Around the World with Orson Welles, a group of Western Union telegram receipts, a handwritten letter in bold ink from Welles to secretary Maggie regarding Darryl Zanuk, a copy of "The Cradle Will Rock" (Welles), "The Lady From Shanghai" related documents, a "Volpone" original script, and related documents. In 1955, The "Orson Welles Sketchbook" six-episode series appeared on the BBC. The short lived series showcased Welles as a great storytelling talent and wit that included his drawings and subtle facial expressions while he regaled viewers with anecdotes and often dark stories.
