Broadway’s Best Collide: David Korins Designs Tony Bennett Exhibition

Legendary set designer celebrates Bennett at Lincoln Center

April 20, 2024

Julien’s Auctions is honored to celebrate the confluence of two artistic titans: the visionary set designer David Korins and the iconic singer Tony Bennett with our "Tony Bennett: A LIFE WELL LIVED" exhibition which opens today at JAZZ at Lincoln Center.

This remarkable encounter takes place against the backdrop of Lincoln Center, a New York City landmark synonymous with artistic excellence and a space that holds deep significance for both Bennett and the city he loved. The free exhibition showcases highlights from our two-day auction honoring Tony Bennett's music and art. It's open to the public from 6pm-11pm ET, April 10th through 16th.

Korins' artistry has spearheaded the evolution of set design far beyond the auditorium. From the electrifying energy of "In the Heights" and "Hamilton" to the poignant intimacy of "Dear Evan Hansen," his creations breathe life into stories, transporting audiences on immersive journeys that leave a lasting impact. Now, he lends his design touch to our Bennett exhibition at Lincoln Center.

For over seven decades, Lincoln Center has served as the beating heart of New York City's performing arts scene. A haven for world-class musicians, dancers, and actors, it's a stage where artistic dreams take flight and cultural legacies are nurtured. The majestic halls of Lincoln Center have witnessed countless iconic performances, etching themselves into the collective memory of the city. For Tony Bennett, a New Yorker at heart, performing at Lincoln Center was more than just a concert; it was a homecoming, a chance to connect with his roots and share his music with the city that shaped him. The very walls hold echoes of his earliest artistic aspirations, and the stage becomes a platform to celebrate a remarkable career that has resonated with audiences for generations.
